Researchers new to peptide handling often assume every shipment needs dry ice. In practice, lyophilized powder is remarkably stable: with the water removed there is little for hydrolytic degradation to act on, and short transit at ambient temperature has negligible measurable impact.
Long-term storage is a different question. Sealed lyophilized vials belong at -20°C, where they remain stable for the duration of the labeled shelf life. A standard laboratory freezer is sufficient; ultra-low storage is not required.
Once reconstituted, the clock starts. Solutions should sit at 2-8°C, shielded from light, and be used within the product-specific window. Oxidation at methionine and tryptophan residues, deamidation at asparagine, and adsorption to container walls all accelerate at room temperature.
